HDHMR stands for High-Density High-Moisture-Resistant MDF. It is a premium variant of MDF manufactured at higher density (800–950+ kg/m³ vs 650–780 for standard MDF) with enhanced moisture-resistant resin bonding. The result is better moisture resistance, harder surface, better screw-holding near edges, and better machinability.
For kitchen SHUTTERS — yes. HDHMR is smoother and more consistent for lamination than plywood. But for kitchen CARCASS BODIES (the structural box), plywood or prelam plywood is still specified for its structural strength and better screwing at edges. The professional specification is: prelam HDHMR for shutters + prelam plywood or BWP plywood for carcass.
